Fabric care in monsoon

Washing and storing clothes is also an art. In the rainy season, clothes need extra care. So what do you do?

We buy expensive clothes, but after wearing them, it becomes necessary to take care of them. Due to a little carelessness, the clothes start losing their shine. Therefore, whether the clothes are cheap or expensive if maintained properly, they will last for years and years and their beauty will also remain intact. There are a few things that must be kept in mind while washing and storing clothes.

When to wash clothes:

Always wash clothes with mild detergent. This will keep the clothes shiny. Clothes should always be washed in cold water. Also, do not use bleach even by mistake. Clean white and colored clothes separately, otherwise there will be a fear of discoloration. Hand wash expensive clothes.

Do not overwash these clothes in the washing machine, otherwise, the clothes will start getting damaged, stretched, and rough. Avoid washing silk, Banarasi, and embroidery work fabrics at home. Do dry cleaning only.

After wearing Banarasi, silk, cotton, and embroidered suits, always spread them in the air for a while, so that these clothes are free from moisture.

Now it’s time to store:

Divide clothes into different categories like daily wear, special occasion wear, occasional wear, heavy clothing, etc. This will keep you comfortable and unnecessary time will not be wasted.

Always keep the clothes separately by wrapping them in small cotton bags or muslin cloth. Instead of folding embroidery or expensive heavy clothes, keep them rolled. If there is a crease on the fabric, then do it only by setting the iron on dry mode.

Keep delicate fabrics separate in the wardrobe.
After drying the cotton clothes, press them, otherwise, they will shrink. Keep these clothes in a cotton bag after pressing or hang them on a hanger in the cupboard or wardrobe. While pressing an embroidered suit or saree, lay a thin cloth on top and bottom.

Do not press directly on the embroidery. Instead of hanging heavy traditional outfits, such as lehengas or sarees on hangers, it is better to fold them and store them separately.

Neem leaves keep the clothes spotless and safe. Wherever you are keeping clothes, spread neem leaves there. Use naphthalene balls. Make small bundles and add them. This will keep the clothes fresh and there will be no problem of insects etc. In this way, you can maintain your clothes in the monsoon without worrying.

Some precautions

If there are mud stains on the clothes, clean them as soon as possible by wiping them with a wet cloth. If the soil has dried up, first scrape it off with a soft brush and then wash it thoroughly with clean water.

These days the weather is unpredictable and the sun rarely comes out, so there is little chance to dry clothes outside. But whenever you get a chance, air dry your clothes outside. If there is no sunlight, dry the clothes in a place where there is good ventilation and light.

Keep rain-soaked clothes separate from other clothes. If possible, wash these clothes separately or after washing them with clean water first, then wash them with other clothes.
